The Secretary of Health has implemented a vaccination campaign at the border to protect the population against influenza, Covid-19, and pneumonia. The Binational Campaign began on January 17 in Tijuana, Baja California, and has now extended to Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, which is one of the busiest border areas.
During the inauguration of the campaign, the Undersecretary of Prevention and Promotion of Health, Ramiro López Elizalde, emphasized the importance of bringing the benefits of vaccination to the entire population, urging health workers not to rest until every person is protected. López Elizalde highlighted the collaboration between countries to protect their citizens through vaccination.
For his part, the General Director of the National Center for Child and Adolescent Health (CeNSIA), Daniel Aceves Villagran, noted that vaccination saves millions of lives worldwide each year and has a high return on investment. Additionally, the Secretary of Health of Chihuahua, Gilberto Baeza Mendoza, emphasized that the campaign in Ciudad Juárez will continue until January 28 with the aim of preventing severe respiratory illnesses.
Baeza Mendoza called on the population to get vaccinated to protect themselves from diseases, ensuring better health for children, adolescents, and adults. The campaign included the presence of representatives from the WHO/PAHO in Mexico, the Consul General of Mexico in El Paso, Texas, the executive secretary of the Mexico-U.S. Border Health Commission, and health officials from the El Paso Public Health Department.
